My Approach
The subtle, yet profoundly powerful benefits of Acupuncture allows the nervous system to find balance, blood and Qi to flow freely throughout the body, and allows our bodies to heal.
My approach is gentle. I assist, guide, and allow my patients to understand their bodies, cycles, and emotions on a deeper level. I strive to support my patients without judgment regardless of where they are at in their lives.
I want to meet you where you are at and to support you as you grow along your healing path.
My Experience
I attended Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta for five years; first receiving a diploma in Holistic Health, where I specialized in Reflexology, Western Herbology and Acupressure.
After studying Acupressure, I was drawn to Chinese theory and Medicine, which in turn led me to receive my diploma in Acupuncture. In my final year of studies, I was fortunate enough to travel to Zhengzhou, China, where I completed 80 hours of clinical and academic hours of Acupuncture and Moxibustion at Henan University of Chinese Medicine.
I am also a Birth Doula taking my certification through Gentle Touch Doula and DONA (Doulas of North America). I like to call myself an Acu-Doula.
My Journey
From an early age I knew in my heart I wanted to support people, but my journey to where I am in my dream career unfolded while I was in my early twenties.
I started my journey in 2010 by receiving my Birth Doula certificate. After earning that certificate, I found myself eager to learn more about the connection of the mind, body and spirit.
In 2012 I graduated from Grant MacEwan with a diploma in Holistic Health, specializing in Reflexology, Western Herbology, and Acupressure. After studying Acupressure, I was drawn to Chinese theory and medicine, which in turn led me to receive my diploma in Acupuncture.
My interest and compassion for Women’s health comes from my personal struggle with dysmenorrhea and endometriosis. I found Acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and changes in my lifestyle made my periods less painful. I love guiding Women to understand their bodies, hormones and cycles. There is never too much information when it comes to chatting with me in the treatment room.
I have been fortunate enough to support clients through conception to pregnancy and all the way to birth as their Acupuncturist and Birth Doula. I like to call myself an Acu-Doula, since I’m able to wear the two hats while in Labour and Delivery.
Through my own practice I have been able to achieve a healthier period, better sleep, and have grown in my mental/emotional wellness. I appreciate the subtle, and often profound beauty of Chinese medicine and I look forward to sharing it with you.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine takes a holistic, whole body approach to health. Oriental Medicine has been used for thousands of years with nearly one-third of the world using it as their primary care system and many other countries as a complimentary therapy. Acupuncture is based on the theory of Qi (energy), good health depends on the positive flow of Qi through the body. If the flow of Qi is disturbed, blocked, or depleted disharmony in the form of physical illness, mental distress, or pain can arise. An Acupuncturist places fine sterile needles at specific points in the body to activate the body’s energy and promote natural healing.
Is Acupuncture painful?
Acupuncture should not be painful. You may feel a dull ache, tingling, warm sensation, or the feeling of Qi running through the body. Every person will experience the treatment differently. With intense needle manipulation for muscle skeletal problems you may feel your muscles jump and contract or experience a pinching sensation, however this should pass quickly. If you experience any sharp pains or overly uncomfortable sensations alert your Acupuncturist immediately so that they can adjust or remove the needle. Acupuncture is 100% safe when being done by a qualified Acupuncturist, since it is a completely natural therapy there are virtually no side effects.
What can I expect during a treatment?
Due to the holistic nature a thorough assessment is done on the first visit, this will take into account an individual’s lifestyle, previous health history, and will include questions not directly related to the present issue. The practitioner takes your pulse as this is a tool to asses the current balance of Qi in the body and also takes a look at your tongue as the shape, color, and coating reflect your body’s general health. After making a proper Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis the Acupuncturists inserts fine, sterile, single-use disposable needles into specifically selected acupuncture points. Needles are left in for 15-30 minutes while the patient relaxes. An Acupuncture treatment may also consist of other modalities such as cupping, guasha, moxa, tui-na, tuning forks or auricular therapy.
Is there a certain time in my menstrual cycle when I should begin?
No. We can begin acupuncture at any point in the menstrual cycle or at any point during medical fertility treatment, though deeply regulating the system requires time. To achieve the strongest impact, it is ideal to begin acupuncture three months prior to embarking on fertility medications and procedures.
How many sessions will I need?
To optimize fertility, we recommend acupuncture once a week and in some cases twice a week, ideally for three months. It takes three months for an egg to mature from its primordial state to the point that it is ready to be ovulated. For men, sperm production also takes three months. During this time we aim to help the body to be as well regulated as possible so as to produce the healthiest eggs and sperm.
For other issues such as headaches, back pain, menopausal symptoms, digestive or other problems, treatment times are generally much shorter but it depends on the issue. At your first session, we give you a game plan.
How long is a session?
The initial visits are 75- 90 minutes.
Follow up visits are 45- 60 minutes.
What should I wear?
Whatever you want! You are busy and whether you are coming from work, or the gym, or straight from your couch, you don’t have to worry about remembering to bring anything with you. A sheet will be provided to properly drape you. You should never feel uncomfortable at any time during your appointment.
